About Jocelin
My Yoga journey started after I was diagnosed with a brain
tumor in December of 2005. The life I
led up to that point was a bit chaotic, but once I started practicing yoga that
began to calm down. My first yoga class
was a heated Vinyasa flow with LaTenia-LaTin Caldwell.
I was hooked from then on and jumped into a regular practice full
force. I have never been an athlete by
definition, but maintaining a consistent yoga practice has made me stronger
than ever both mentally and physically.
In February 2009 I decided to enroll in the 200 hour Yoga
Teacher Training course at
CITYOGA studying under Nikki Meyers & Marsha
Pappas. I made this decision for several
reasons. The first and most important
reason being a way to help me get through a very difficult time and open some
doors in the future doing what I love. In
July 2009 I participated in an
Off The Mat program with Nikki Meyers & Kathy McHugh for the Yoga,
Purpose and Action Leadership Training.
Through a yoga practice I have had the opportunity to learn
about myself and open my mind to new ideas and possibilities. Yoga has given me the tools to embrace life
with an open heart & mind. I now
have a much more positive outlook on life, and strive to share this with
others.
I also have a passion for food & nutrition. I run a raw food business with my family. We can be found at various farmers markets around Indianapolis. I believe it is important to be conscious of what we put in our body, and yoga helps to bring about that consciousness. Flow.Flourish.Foster
I like the idea of flowing through a practice as the water in a stream circulates and winds through its curves and crevices. We increase our blood flow and stimulate our nervous system as we work with our breath. The flow of our breath moves like the ebb and flow of the ocean tides. We flourish in our yoga practice by working with our breath and our bodies to bring ourselves into a vigorous state. Flourish can also be defined as growth; each time we step onto our mats we grow more knowledge and grow more with our practice. When we foster we promote the growth or development of ourselves, our bodies our minds and our overall well-being. Please join me in a practice and together we will flow flourish and foster!
